How can we help?
Answers to the questions people ask most. If yours isn’t here, write to us. A person reads every message.
Getting started
What does setup ask me for?
A short first run asks which reminder list and calendar Spunto should use, which kinds of actions it may suggest, and optionally a little about you and the people and places in your life, so it reads your notes the way you mean them.
You can change any of it later in Settings.
Why does Spunto ask for access to Reminders, Calendar or Contacts?
So that a suggestion you keep can be written where it belongs. Spunto only adds what you’ve kept, and only to the list or calendar you chose. Access is asked for when it’s first needed, and you can turn any of it off in the Settings app.
Where do my reminders and events go?
To the reminder list and calendar you picked during setup. Change them in Spunto’s Settings at any time.
How do I buy Spunto after the trial?
In the app. Choose Buy on the unlock screen that appears when your trial ends, or in Spunto’s Settings. One purchase of $14.99 unlocks Spunto on every device signed in to the same Apple Account, and notes that were waiting are read automatically.
I bought Spunto on another device.
Make sure this device is signed in to the same Apple Account you bought it with, then choose Restore Purchases in Spunto’s Settings. There’s nothing to pay again.
What’s the fastest way to write something down?
On iPhone, assign Record a Note to the Action button, or add New Note to Control Center or the Lock Screen. On the Mac, turn on the menu bar item in Settings and Open at Login. On Apple Watch, add the complication to your watch face.
You can also send a selection to Spunto from the share sheet, or ask Siri.
Suggestions and Actions
A note didn’t get any suggestions. Why?
Spunto only suggests an action when the note clearly asks for one. Plenty of notes are simply worth keeping, and those are filed in your Library with nothing to decide. If you think a note should have had one, open it and choose Read Again. If your free trial has ended, notes are saved but not read until you buy.
Will Spunto ever do something without asking?
No. Nothing is added until you keep it. Spunto never sends a message, places a call or opens another app on its own. A setting can pre-mark the suggestions you usually keep, but you still confirm them.
I started a call from Spunto. Why isn’t it marked done?
Opening the dialer, a draft or a workout only starts the job, so the action is marked Started. Tap the circle once it has actually happened.
Can I get back something I deleted?
Yes. Deleted notes and actions stay in Recently Deleted, at the bottom of the Library, for thirty days.
Sync and devices
My notes aren’t showing up on another device.
Spunto syncs through iCloud. Check that each device is signed in to the same Apple Account, that iCloud is turned on for Spunto in Settings, and that the device is online. Large libraries can take a few minutes the first time.
My notes say “Waiting.”
That device can’t run Apple Intelligence right now, either because it isn’t supported, Apple Intelligence is off, or its models are still downloading. The note is safe. It will be read as soon as Spunto opens on a device where Apple Intelligence is available.
Does the Apple Watch app need my iPhone?
You can write notes on the watch on its own. Your iPhone reads them once they sync, and the results come back to the watch.
How do I back up or export my notes?
Export notes as Markdown, print them, or back up your whole Library to a single file you can restore on any of your devices. On the Mac, all of it is in the File menu.
Privacy and data
Can you see my notes?
No. Spunto has no servers and no account. Your notes live on your devices and in your private iCloud database, which we have no access to.
What is Private Cloud Compute?
Apple’s server-side Apple Intelligence. When a request needs more than your device can do, it can run there. Apple designed it so your data isn’t stored and isn’t accessible to anyone, Apple included.
How do I delete everything?
Delete the app from each device, then remove Spunto’s data from iCloud in Settings ▸ your name ▸ iCloud ▸ Manage Storage.
